Da Vinchi

Tucked away at 340 Great Cheetham St E in Salford, Da Vinchi isn’t just another spot to grab a bite - it’s a place that feeds both your hunger and your love for authentic African cuisine. If you’ve been hunting for a restaurant that understands the assignment when it comes to traditional flavors, hearty portions, and a vibe that feels like home (especially when home is Nigeria), Da Vinchi is worth discovering.

Let’s talk food first - because that’s the heart of everything here. Da Vinchi’s menu doesn’t play it safe. It dives straight into bold, unapologetic dishes like Nkwobi, which is richly flavored and served just how it should be - tender, spicy, and absolutely addictive. This dish, made from cow foot, is a classic and a true test of a Nigerian kitchen’s skill. At Da Vinchi, it doesn’t disappoint.

Then there’s the Onugbo Soup with Pounded Yams. This bitter leaf delicacy packs a punch - earthy, slightly bitter, and layered with deep flavors that dance on your palate. The pounded yam is soft, fluffy, and perfect for scooping up every drop. If you’re more in the mood for something that comforts and fills in equal measure, go for the Bitter Leaf Soup with Poundo. It hits differently - both familiar and surprisingly complex.

Of course, you can't skip the Jollof Platter Full Option. This dish has a fan base of its own. It’s spicy, smoky, and brimming with flavor. At Da Vinchi, they know Jollof isn’t just rice - it’s a statement. And when it’s served with the full works - think plantains, grilled meat, and maybe even a cheeky splash of stew - it becomes a feast that’ll leave you grinning from ear to ear.

But Da Vinchi doesn’t just serve great food. It serves an experience. The restaurant itself is casual and inviting - no pretension, just a place where good food and good times come together. The atmosphere is relaxed but energized, especially during match days. With multiple screens and a solid drink menu featuring beer, spirits, and wine, it’s an ideal spot for catching up on your favorite sport while indulging in a plate of something spicy.

Accessibility matters too, and Da Vinchi gets that. It offers wheelchair-accessible seating, ensuring everyone can come and enjoy what’s on offer without hassle. Whether you want to dine in, grab a takeaway, or get food delivered straight to your door, they’ve got you covered. And for those late-night cravings? Yes - they serve late-night food. Because hunger doesn’t check the clock, and neither does Da Vinchi.

Another thing you’ll appreciate here is the flexibility. Whether you’re popping in for a quick bite, enjoying small plates over drinks with friends, or flying solo for a hearty dinner, the restaurant accommodates every mood and moment. It's popular for lunch, thanks to its speed and flavor-packed offerings, and a hit for dinner when you need something more satisfying after a long day.

One thing that sets Da Vinchi apart from other African restaurants in the area is how it keeps things unfiltered and authentic, without overcomplicating the experience. You’re not just getting Nigerian food - you’re getting real Nigerian food, the kind that warms your belly and feels like it came straight from a kitchen back home.

And while there may be other spots offering similar menus, very few match Da Vinchi’s consistency. From the careful seasoning to the timing of every dish, you can tell that whoever’s behind the stove knows exactly what they’re doing - and more importantly, cares.

For anyone exploring African food for the first time or looking for a familiar taste done right, Da Vinchi hits the sweet spot between everyday comfort and flavor-packed authenticity. Whether you're swinging by with a crew, watching a football match over drinks, or just feeding a craving you can't ignore, this place doesn’t just serve food - it serves satisfaction.

Came to manchester from london and ordered pounded yam and oha soup. As soon as I tasted the soup it felt like been transported back to the village. I could taste the home cooking in every bite. Atmosphere was good. The host was friendly and in my view one of the best African restaurants I have visited.

We came to spend the weekend in Manchester, a friend recommended here for us, and we must say that we are glad. The ambiance of the restaurant is what you first notice - lighting, cleanliness, and general decor, and it’s impressive. Even though Glory isn’t a fan of dark decor and ambiance, it was impressive enough that she appreciated the effort. Service was polite and friendly. The food itself was the star of the show; tasted homely and traditional (as much as is possible for a restaurant), and portions were generous and perfect for us, altogether rounding up a very pleasant and satisfying night for us in Manchester. We hope to be back!
